PowerBook G4

The PowerBook G4 Titanium laptop was a series of Apple, Apple's first notebook series, the housing mainly consisted of metal, while the previous series had all the plastic housing.

There were four generations of PowerBooks in the Titanium series with essentially the same housings. The Titanium series had a 15-inch panoramic screen, and for the first time based on the PowerPC G4 processor that was clocked depending on the model between 400 MHz and 1 GHz. The Titanium was Apple's last notebook that had the connections ( USB, FireWire, display, ethernet, etc.) attached mainly on the back of the device, all subsequent model series have the connections on the side. The very slim case made of titanium sheets (English Titanium) and plastic frames made the computer relatively easily (weight varying slightly depending on the equipment under 2.5 pounds ), but was also sensitive. It often formed cracks in the sheets, especially in the area of the display hinges. Also prone to damage was the locking mechanism of the display lid and paint, which tended to replace.

The store was expanded by the customer himself, by the held by magnets and a locking keyboard was lifted to obtain access to the slots. However, a hard disk replacement required screwing the housing, as well as the installation of the (not factory-installed in most facilities ) Airport wireless card.

The Titanium PowerBook was still in the program, as already 12 " - and 17" PowerBooks were introduced with aluminum housing. Together with the introduction of the second generation of the 12 " - and 17" PowerBooks, the Titanium PowerBook was eventually replaced by the PowerBook G4 15 inch.
