Poznowice

Posnowitz, Polish Poznowice, is a town in Upper Silesia in the community room village ( Izbicko ) in the powiat Strzelecki in the Opole Voivodeship.

Geography

Posnowitz is located 10.5 kilometers from the county seat Strzelce ( United Strehlitz ) away.

History

The place was in 1300 as " de poznowicz " first mentioned.

1910, the place had 415 inhabitants, of whom 406 Polish-speaking and German -speaking 9. In the referendum on March 20, 1921 197 voters voted to remain in Germany and 182 for Poland. Posnowitz remained with the German Reich. 1936, the town was renamed in Einsiedel. By 1945, the place was in the district of Great Strehlitz.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration, was renamed Poznowice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 Posnowitz for Opole Voivodeship and the 1999 re-established powiat Strzelecki.

On 6 March 2006 the German Posnowitz was in the church parlor village belongs, is introduced as a second official language. On 20 May 2008, the City also received the official German place names Posnowitz. In December 2008, bilingual town signs were erected.
