Pozzillo Lake

The Lago Pozillo is the largest reservoir of Sicily. It is fed by the river salso, a tributary of the simeto, which is not to be confused with the current salso.

The Lago Pozillo lies near the village of Regalbuto in the province of Enna in the interior of the island. He is about 4 km long, at its widest point is 1.8 km wide and has a capacity of about 150 million cubic meters.

The dam was completed in 1959. The water of the reservoir is partly used for irrigation in agriculture, partly for power generation.
