PPL (utility)

PPL Corporation (Pennsylvania Power and Light ) is an energy company in the United States with headquarters in Allentown (Pennsylvania). The company is listed on the stock index S & P 500.

PPL provides primarily in Pennsylvania and Montana stream. Mainly operates PPL power plants that are fueled by coal, oil or natural gas. However, PPL is also the owner of the nuclear power plant Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, northeast of Berwick, Pennsylvania.

History

PPL was founded in 1920 by a merger of eight smaller works in Pennsylvania. The company extended its reach over several decades on the central part and the north-eastern part of Pennsylvania. This changed after deregulation in the 1990s.

1998 were taken over by the Company Montana Power 13 power plants.

Wanting to end of April, 2010, PPL known for 7.625 billion U.S. dollars E.ON U.S. LLC, a subsidiary of E.ON and owner of the regional utilities, Louisville Gas & Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company to take over.
