Prachya Pinkaew

Prachya Pinkaew ( Thai: ปรัชญา ปิ่นแก้ว; born September 2, 1962 in Nakhon Ratchasima ) is a Thai film director, film producer and screenwriter who became known for his martial arts films awareness.

Life and work

Although Prachya 1985 studied architecture at Nakhon Ratchasima Technology College in the province of Nakhon Ratchasima, five years later he started a career in the film industry. He initially worked as artistic director in an advertising agency and from 1992 also as a director for music video clips, some of which also won national awards, although he had never been educated as a director.

In 1992 his first feature film, The Magic Shoes, followed by Romantic Blues (1993 /1994), as he concentrated more on film production and the structure of the production company Baa - Ram - Ewe, whose chairman he is today. After almost ten years as a director Prachya Pinkaew break staged the 2003 martial arts movie Ong Bak, who was taken promoted in Thailand and also in an international film distributor to one of the most successful films.

Prachya is now mainly works as a film producer, but not specialized to this particular genre. Since 2003 he has been President of the Thai Film Association.
