Prahovo

Prahovo (Cyrillic Прахово ) is a city in the Opština Negotin and the District of Bor in eastern Serbia. It lies on the Danube River in the border triangle between Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria and is one of the oldest settlements in this municipality.

History

It is believed that the village from the Roman settlement Decebaluma arose.

Beginning of the 16th century, the village had 35 houses, only in recent centuries, the number of inhabitants grew up. The inhabitants of the village, Vlachs, originally came from the south, before they had settled in Prahovo.

In the 17th century, most inhabitants farmers, the pigs or sheep were held. The Orthodox Ascension Church in Prahovo was built in 1872.

On September 6 and 7, 1944, the " Black Sea Fleet " of the German Navy was sunk on the orders of Rear Admiral Paul Willy Zieb to make the waterway impassable in the Danube. Economy
