Pran Buri District

Amphoe Pran Buri ( Thai: อำเภอ ปราณบุรี ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Prachuap Khiri Khan. The Prachuap Khiri Khan province is located in the southern part of the central region of Thailand.

Geography

The neighboring Amphoe and territories are ( from north clockwise): Amphoe Hua Hin, coast to the Gulf of Thailand, Amphoe Sam Roi Yot and the Tanintharyi Division of Myanmar.

The county seat, Pran Buri is located 71 kilometers north of the provincial capital of Prachuap Khiri Khan and about 30 kilometers south of the seaside resort of Hua Hin. The county has some beaches that are known for their peaceful atmosphere.

The main water resource of the county is the Pranburi River. The mangrove forest at its mouth in the Gulf of Thailand is the forest reserve Pran Buri ( Pran Buri Forest Park ) protected. The park is a 1 km long beach, which is lined with pine trees. The park has numerous instructional trails through mangrove swamps.

History

In the Kingdom of Ayutthaya was Mueang Pran a city ( Mueang ) a loose group of cities in Southern Siam. Even during the reign of King Mongkut (Rama IV ) was the governor of Mueang Pran full authority over the management. During the administrative reform of King Chulalongkorn ( Rama V ) in 1906 Mueang Pran, Prachuap Kamnoed Nopphakhun and were combined to form a new Mueang Pran Buri. An administration building was in Tambon Ko Lak ( Amphoe Mueang today in Prachuap Khiri Khan ) was established. King Vajiravudh (Rama VI. ) 1915 changed the name of the province of Pran Buri Prachuap Khiri Khan, as his center in the former Mueang Prachuap was that Pran Buri city and river of the same retained their name.

Economy

More and more tourist resorts are being built, which can be used as the fallback district, if Hua Hin is already too full.

In the surrounding area there are still many pineapple plantations on which the tastiest fruits are grown throughout Thailand. Canning factories which export pineapple products to Germany, ensure short transport routes from the fields. Other agricultural products include aloe vera.

Attractions

  • Kui Buri National Park ( Thai: อุทยานแห่งชาติ กุยบุรี ) - the 969 km ² large park was opened on 19 October 1989. Worth seeing: some waterfalls and observation of wild elephants.
  • Pran Buri Forest Park ( Thai: วนอุทยาน ปราณบุรี ) - the 3.17 km ² large reserve was opened on September 30, 1982. Worth the teaching trail ( " Mangrove Forest Nature Trail " - ทาง เดิน ศึกษา ธรรมชาติ ป่า ชาย เลย ), and the adjacent beach ( " Pranburi Forest Park Beach " - ชายหาด วนอุทยาน ปราณบุรี ).

Management

Amphoe Pran Buri ( tambon) divided into six municipalities that continue in 44 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

There are two small towns in the district ( Tambon thesaban ):

  • Pran Buri consists of parts of tambon Pran Buri, Khao Noi and Nong Ta Taem,
  • Pak Nam Pran consists of parts of the Tambon Pak Nam Pran.
