Prathai District

Amphoe Prathai ( Thai: อำเภอ ประทาย ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima. The Nakhon Ratchasima province is located in the northeast region of Thailand, the Isaan.

Geography

Amphoe Prathai borders the following districts (from north clockwise): the Amphoe Phon and Nong Song Hong of the province of Khon Kaen, at Amphoe Ban Mai Chaiyaphot the province of Buriram, as well as to the Amphoe Mueang Yang Chum Phuang, Phimai, Non Daeng, Sida and Bua Lai in the province of Nakhon Ratchasima.

History

The village Prathai was founded at the time of the Khmer Empire. When he wanted to extend serines territory to the west, struck King Jayavarman II in this area on his bed. After his abdication Prathai was abandoned only during the Kingdom of Sukhothai, it was repopulated.

Prathai means in Khmer language " camp".

Tambon Prathai Amphoe Bua Yai was separated from, it was on January 1, 1961, the small district ( King Amphoe ) Prathai. This was in 1963 officially promoted to Amphoe.

Management

Amphoe Prathai is divided into 13 subdistricts ( tambon), which in turn together hold 148 municipalities ( Muban ).

There is a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Prathai ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ประทาย ), consisting of parts of the tambon Prathai.

There are also 13 administrative organizations ( " Tambon Administrative Organizations" - TAO, Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ).

Note: The missing numbers refer to the tambon which now belong to Non Daeng.
