Prawet District

Prawet ( Thai: ประเวศ ) is one of the 50 districts (Khet ) of Bangkok, capital of Thailand. It is located in the extreme southeast of the city along the Thanon Phatanakhan ( Phatanakhan Street).

Geography

The district Prawet is bounded on the north by the railway line Bangkok Aranyaphrathet, to the east by Khlong Ta Phuk ( same border to neighboring province of Samut Prakan ), to the south by Khlong Bang Na ( also at the same border to neighboring province of Samut Prakan ) and to the west by the Khlongs Khlet, Thalad and Bueng.

The neighboring districts are from clockwise from the north: Saphan Sung, Lat Krabang ( in Bangkok ), the Amphoe Bang Phli Samut Prakan province, and the Khet Bang Na, Phra Khanong and Suan Luang.

History

Thailand's new international Suvarnabhumi International Airport is located in the neighboring district Bang Phli province ( Changwat ) Samut Prakan. The Government therefore intends to Amphoe Bang Phli Bang Sao Thong with the ( also Samut Prakan province ) together with the Khet Prawet and Lat Krabang to a new province of Nakhon Suvarnabhumi.
