The Prague Ratter (Czech: Pražský Krysarik ) is not recognized by the FCI breed of dog from the Czech Republic. It is with a national standard in Ceskomoravská Kynologická Unie, which represents the Czech Republic in the FCI, bred and assigned to one of these the FCI Group 9. The standard was published on October 12, 1980 and revised on 15 November 2008. Since February 2011, the breed is bred in the VDH.

Origin and History

The Prague Ratter is a breed of dog of the Pinscher type, whose history in the Kingdom of Bohemia ( now Czech Republic) began. He was originally representation dog at princely courts and the Prague Castle, and later he was also kept as a working dog. His role was that of a Rattlers, so to keep the yard and stables free from rodents. But over time he fell into oblivion. With the last remnants was started successfully in 1980, re-establish the breed. There are initiatives that work towards an international recognition by the FCI. In this context took place on 2 July 2010 in Řásná (Czech Republic), the founding of the International Association of Pražský Krysarik ( IAPK ). The founding members were breeding associations for the Prague Ratter from Czech Republic, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Switzerland, Russia, Austria, Slovakia, China and Japan. On 9 September 2010 gave members of the IAPK the Czech federation ČMKU documents so that it can operate the recognition of the breed in the FCI ( the recognition of breeds is operated respectively by the national federations ).

Description

This breed is called a modern toy, so are very small, lightweight dog meant. The coat is short, blank, close and dense or medium-length with longer feathering on ears, legs and tail. As a color, a black or brown base color with badges in loh is preferred. The tan markings are located above the eyes, on the cheeks, on the chest and possibly down the neck, base of tail. The darker these characters are, the better.

Next describes the ČMKU: " Other color varieties differ depending on the genetic system through the base color of the body, of the nose, skin derivatives, as well as the saturation of the eye and badge pigments. In general, a richer pigmentation within the given color as a preference. " White patches are undesirable. Negative features include a large white mark on the chest (> 1 cm) and white markings on the limbs.

The head is pear-shaped with very high and relatively wide set ears are triangular in shape, firm and naturally erect. Easily folded ears are tolerated, but are not desirable. The ears are not vertical, but worn set at a slight angle to the side of the withers is between 20 cm and 23 cm, with an optimum weight of 2.6 kg.

Use

His award -developed sense of smell, its small size and its rapid movement make use in the hunt for rats and brown rats possible, but mainly the Prague Ratter is now a companion dog.

Nature

The dog is distinguished from its balanced character. He is spirited, agile, alert and focused as well as playful and very good-natured.
