Pre-Indo-European languages

The vorindogermanische substrate is a group undetectable related to each other languages that were spoken in Europe and Asia before the emergence of Indo-European languages.

As early as 18-19. Century became known as the Etruscan language from the epigraphic monuments. From the end of the same century until the mid- 20th century written monuments of some new languages were discovered, such as Minoan, Nordpikenisch, Eteokretisch, Eteokyprisch, Iberian and others.

Purpose, the substrate began linguists since the beginning of the 20th century (that is, the probable remains of the lexicon of the previous languages) to study in the ancient Indo-European languages . Thus the hypotheses of (pre-) Germanic (before ) Greek ( Pelasgian ), emerged (before ) Celtic etc. substrate.

The only surviving vorindogermanische language of Europe is Basque.

The Uralic languages are not counted among the pre-Indo- languages , as they have ( probably ultimately from Asia ) spread out around the same time as the Indo-European languages, or somewhat later, starting in Europe.
