Precedence (Latin praecedentia ) can mean:
- Operator precedence in mathematics and computer science
- The place in protocol order in the politics and diplomacy
- The so-called precedent, a legal case, the decision has become the benchmark of other cases.
- With clerics or religious of the Catholic Church the primacy or priority of a person before another according to the laws of the hierarchy (hierarchy ); sometimes referred to as the priority of a liturgical feast or day before another at their meeting in accordance with the " basic order of the Church Year"
