Preda is a small town in the Swiss community Berguen / Bravuogn in the upper valley of the Albula. It lies on the road over the Albula Pass at 1789 meters above sea level and at the north portal of the Albula tunnel of the Rhaetian Railway. In Preda, the ramp of the Albula Railway, which leads overcomes Bergün to Preda an altitude difference of 416 m and from Chur or Davos to St. Moritz ends on the route of the Glacier Express.

Next to the station, a major crossing point with longer double track and sidings with the maneuvering area, there are in Preda a hotel, a boarding house, a farmhouse and several cottages. Since the construction of the railway line, there is also a hydroelectric power plant, which is supplied through a tunnel from Palpuognasee lake with water. The valley floor is used for agriculture, above, there are extensive woodlands. Beyond the tree line there are several Alps. In the immediate vicinity of Preda is down the valley the Maiensässsiedlung Naz.

Above Preda applies the winter closure of the pass. Below Preda to Berguen the road serves in winter as Naturschlittelbahn ( Naturschlittelbahn longest in Europe). The transport of the sledders done with regular trains and additional Schlittelzügen to Preda. In winter there is a snowshoe trail at Preda.

In summer, numerous hiking trails are available. Preda is the starting point of a 7 km long railway trail to Bergün, the most of the railway line down the valley follows, and stage of the trail Via Albula / Bernina.

East of Preda, at 2312 meters high Albula Pass, the watershed between the Rhine ( North Sea) and Inn is located ( Black Sea).
