The Prize of the German Record Critics' Award (abbreviated PdSK ) is an award for high-quality sound recordings which will be awarded regardless of the recording industry of the brought together in a same club and specialized on audio music critics.
History
The Prize of the German Record Critics' Award in 1963 sponsored by the Bielefeld entrepreneur Richard Kaselowsky junior whose Bielefeld publishing institution at that time among other things published the Fono Forum. Association was founded

Chairman of the Board of the following years until 2008 Martin Mittelstenahe by the State Institute for Music Research in Berlin. His successor, Professor of Media Aesthetics at the Robert -Schumann-Hochschule Dusseldorf Lothar Prox, established the award in 2009 in Bonn.
Purpose of the association is under the statutes " to promote artistic and technically most significant Sound and visual recordings " in particular " the presentation of the annual awards for outstanding publications in this area, the publication of a periodical list, indicating artistically excellent publications ." Other honors may be awarded to individuals, " who have worked through artistic, technical or business activity especially around the association's purpose ."
Today the club to include approximately 140 judges in 29 categories. Meanwhile, of course, related DVDs are judged primarily CDs, but also with music. Thematically, audiobooks, film music and special productions for children were included (such as plays and children's songs ). Recent developments can be observed, for example, of the 17 juries (Nu & Extreme ), 25 (Black Music) and 29 ( Border Crossings ).
Statuary seat is Frankfurt remained, the office is located in the House of Culture in Bonn. Here the music journalist Eleanor Büning was elected first chairman on November 5, 2011.
Prices
The association awards every year in autumn season prices in different divisions for outstanding publications from the past twelve months. These three special awards are presented annually. The judging of the annual all prizes is a composite of critics of classical and popular music divisions, regularly newly constituted committee years.
From 1990 to 1997, the annual awards were presented at the Frankfurt Musikmesse, then until 2000 as part of the Bonn Beethoven Festival. From 2001 to 2008, the annual award ceremony took place at the State Institute for Music Research in Berlin, where conferences on issues of music education and criticism have been performed.
Meanwhile, the award was presented decentralized and audience appeal in appearances of the honored artist. 2010, the award ceremony returned to the Beethoven Festival.
