Premia

Premia is a municipality with 575 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the Valle Antigorio in the Italian province of Verbano -Cusio -Ossola (VB ), Region Piedmont.

The neighboring municipalities are Baceno, Crodo, Formazza and Montecrestese.

The municipality covers an area of 88 km ².

The on the mountainside lying, no longer permanently inhabited district Salecchio ( German: Saley ) with fractions Salecchio Inferiore ( Untersaley ) Salecchio Superiore ( Obersaley ) and Casa Fran coli ( Francohüs ) is a Walser settlement. The spoken here Alemannic dialect, the Valais German is virtually extinct, is found extensively documented both in the Linguistic Atlas of German Switzerland as well as in a dissertation by Gertrud free.

Now part of the Premia the 1928 repealed community agarose ( German: AGER ) ( 1561 m). Their eponymous main settlement and the fraction Margone were flooded in 1938 ( Lago di agarose ). As a further fraction remained Ausone ( German: OPSU ) inhabited ( 1463 m) to the 20th century. Agarose and Ausone were like Salecchio Walser settlements. The population of agarose spent the winter months, partly in small hamlets on the south hill above the village Baceno as Cologno, Costa and Pioda Calva.
