Premium Aerotec

Premium Aerotec GmbH, own spelling Premium AEROTEC GmbH is a German manufacturer of structures and manufacturing systems for aircraft. The company was formed on 1 January 2009 by the merger of the EADS site in Augsburg with the works of Airbus Germany in Nordenham and Varel. The sole owner is the Airbus Group N.V.

Locations

Augsburg

The Augsburg with its approximately 2,500 employees, is one of the world's largest suppliers of large components to Airbus. It focuses on the production and assembly of fuselage parts and highly loaded structural components for military and civilian programs, taking advantage of hybrid lightweight construction, carbon technologies, infiltration method and sandwich constructions.

In Augsburg arise, among others, the center fuselage of the Euro Fighter Typhoon, the pressure domes for the Airbus series, and partly for the Boeing 787, as well as the cargo for the new Airbus A400M military transport.

Nordenham and Bremen

The Nordenham plant with its approximately 2,700 employees is the center of large sheet metal and shell construction, primarily for Airbus aircraft. Other priorities in Nordenham the profile manufacturing, laser welding and metal bonding for all Airbus types. For the production of large fuselage panels for the double-decker Airbus A380, a new, 208 meters long and 78 meters wide and correspondingly high hall was built.

For the new Airbus A350 XWB fuselage assembly plant, the location will be. As with Fokker in Pape Brecht ( NL ) Hull shells are made from glare even in Nordenham plant. These components are used because of their particularly favorable fatigue properties in the upper hull dynamically highly stressed area of the wide-body aircraft.

In Nordenham laser welding has been developed for aircraft fuselage structures and first used in mass production. Laser beam welding replaced in certain areas the conventional riveting for aircraft fuselage structures. With its deep-drawing process for metal forming Nordenham has more customers on the aircraft beyond. For example, here was the head shape of the high-speed train ICE 3 and its current successor Siemens Velaro.

On 1 January 2010 the former Airbus part production in Bremen was taken over by Premium Aerotec. The Bremen plant is being run as part of Nordenham.

Varel

In Varel plant with approximately 1,300 employees, the focus is in the areas of machining of aircraft parts as well as development and construction of means of production. Edit the heavy duty integral structure milled aluminum, titanium and steel.

In Varel, among others, the air inlet shells and tubes for the Euro Fighter and major components are made for the A400M military transporter.

Over many years of experience the works has also in the field of wind tunnel modeling. On the models they build different takeoff and landing configurations (eg damper positions ) in the wind tunnel aerodynamic behavior is tested in different phases of flight.

Ghimbav

In Ghimbav, a town in the district of Brasov in Romania, Premium Aerotec invested around 45 million euros in a new location. The completion of the first phase of the work was carried out on 12 July 2011. A second is to follow. The site initially produced 300 employees aircraft components. In the spring of 2013 there were over 550 employees; added employees of suppliers.

Research and Development

Premium Aerotec will have a private development area whose focus is located at the Augsburg location and will also have offices in Bremen, Hamburg and Manching.

Others

For the developed Nordenham method of laser welding technology of aircraft fuselage structures, on 22 January 2000, the "Innovation Award of German Industry " award.

On 28 May 2013, the company said in a press release that they wanted to step up an " existing transformation program with the goal of improving earnings ", " Premium Aerotec to be positioned permanently as a strong aerospace supplier on the market ."
