Prešeren Square

The Preseren Square (Slovene: Prešernov trg) is the main square of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia.

The name of the place it was originally called Marienplatz, which was named after the church.

In the middle of the square stands the statue of the Slovene national poet France Prešeren. In the north of the square is the Baroque Franciscan church ( Franciskanska cerkev Marijinega oznanenja or simply Franciskanska cerkev ) and the Urbanc house from 1903.

One of the main streets in Ljubljana, the Copova Street, leads northwest towards the Nama department store. South of the square of the flow Ljubljanica flows and is crossed by the most famous bridge in the city, Tromostovje ( Three Bridges ), designed in 1929 by Plečnik. To the east is the building of the central pharmacy, while in the West Wolf Street ( ulica Wolfova ) for Congress Square ( Kongresni trg) leads to the main building of the University of Ljubljana.
