Presidential Citizens Medal

The Presidential Citizens Medal ( Public Service Medal by the President ) is the second highest civilian award in the United States after the Presidential Medal of Freedom. It is awarded by the President of the United States. A posthumous award is possible to make a multiple award to the same person is not provided.

The medal on November 13, 1969 and 1973 was donated awarded for the first time. You can be awarded to any U.S. citizen who "has provided exemplary deeds for his country or his fellow citizens ." Anyone can submit proposals to the White House, who should be awarded the medal.

The medal is made of gold and enamel and is sealed with the seal of the President of the United States. The Bald Eagle is surrounded with a wreath of leaves. The medal is attached to a band that consists of two dark blue and a light blue stripe in the middle and a white border and on both sides.

Very few people have both the Presidential Citizens Medal and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom; an example is Muhammad Ali (Citizens Medal 2001 Medal of Freedom 2005).
