Presque Isle County, Michigan

Presque Isle County is a county located in the state of Michigan in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Rogers City.

Geography

The County is located in the extreme north-east of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, adjacent to Lake Huron, one of the five Great Lakes, and has an area of ​​6663 square kilometers, of which 4954 square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Alpena County, Montmorency County and Cheboygan County.

History

Presque Isle County was formed in 1840 from parts of Mackinac County. It was named after the then usual French term for peninsula.
