History

After the completion of the Franconian Forest Railway in 1885, the first request was directed in 1890 by the construction of a spur track after Tettau to the government in Munich. In particular, the so-called " Tettauer angle" based glass and porcelain industry was interested in a rail connection. In the lines was chosen a route along the river Tettau. For this, however, a treaty between the Kingdom of Bavaria and the Duchy of Saxe -Meiningen was necessary because the route to a length of 8.1 km was on territory of Saxe- Meiningen, where they crossed the border fourteen times. On March 10, 1900, the Bavarian Parliament gave approval to the planning and construction of the local train on July 9, 1901, the treaty between the two German states was closed. The majority of the funding ( 1.2 million dollars), the construction and operation of the branch line was carried out by Bavaria. In spring 1945 the train service was interrupted as a result of blowing up a bridge Tettau. Since, according to the occupation of Thuringia by Soviet troops on 3 July 1945, the inner German border, according to the old borders, the route route crossed several times, the train remained set. This led to a strong hindrance of production in industrial enterprises in Tettauer angle. It was only on 16 October 1946 the freight traffic was finally resumed after repair of Tettau bridge. It reversed three freight trains weekly. With two pairs of trains a weekday transit for persons was possible from 14 April 1947. The passengers in the so-called corridor trains had to be kept closed while driving through the SBZ the doors and windows. In Heiner village Soviet soldiers led by passenger controls.

About the 1951 newly built road from Steinbach am Wald Alexander hut was so the delivery of the freight cars. There, the cars were put on the track and driven by a small locomotive in the sidings after Tettau and Alexander hut. Every year, approximately 3400 to 1989 trips were carried out. The island operation between Tettau and Alexander hut was set end of 1983, the small locomotive wagons ranged in Alexanderhütte until the end of 1992.
