Preston E. Peden

Preston Elmer Peden ( born June 28, 1914 in Duke, Jackson County, Oklahoma, † June 27, 1985 in Walnut Creek, California ) was an American politician. Between 1947 and 1949 he represented the seventh election district of the state of Oklahoma in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Preston Eden came in 1920 to Altus in Oklahoma, where he attended the public schools. Then he studied until 1939 at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, among others, Jura. After his 1939 was admitted to the bar he began in Altus to work in his new profession. From 1939 to 1942 he was the legal representative of the Insurance Committee of Oklahoma. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army, where he rose to 1946 to captain. For his military services he was awarded the Bronze Star.

Politically, Peden member of the Democratic Party. In 1946 he was in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he replaced Victor Wickersham on 3 January 1947. Since it was founded in 1948 no longer nominated by his party, Peden was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1949. After this time it was 1949 administrative staff in a congressional committee that dealt with the administration of public lands. Between 1950 and 1952 he was an advisor to the Committee on Internal Affairs and insular. From 1954 to 1980, Peden head of the Chicago Association of Commerce and Industry. Then he withdrew into retirement, which he spent in Walnut Creek ( California).
