History

In Leau and neighboring Plömnitz two subcamp of the Buchenwald concentration camp was a decision of the Fighter Staff, with the participation of the engineering office Schlempp since 1944 under the code name "Leopard" set up for 1,000 to 2,000 prisoners, in addition to Plömnitz Since February 1945, a women's camp for 150 Hungarian Jewish women who were forced to do hard labor for the Solvay works and the Junkers -Werke, the numerous casualties. Of the people buried in the cemetery to 1945 alone 450 exhumed and have been buried at the Soviet War Memorial Bernburg.

The community Preußlitz belonged with effect from 1 January 2005, the administrative community Nienburg ( Saale).
