Prien (river)

The Prien is a river in Bavaria. It rises on Spitzstein 1150 m. NN and ends after 32 km at the place Prien am Chiemsee in the "Sheep -washed bay " of Lake Chiemsee. She is one of the longest streams in the Bavarian Alpine region.

The name is probably derived from the Celtic name for the river from ( Brigenna = " The Coming out of the mountains "). Thus, the river is also eponymous become Prien am Chiemsee.

The Prien is after the Tiroler Achen is the second largest tributary to Lake Chiemsee.
