Geography

Priesitz is located about 25 km southeast of Wittenberg in the glacial valley of the Elbe to the edge of the Natural Park Duebener Heath.

History

1290, the village was first mentioned. The late- Gothic winged altar in the Elbschifferkirche of the place is a carving of an unknown master. Since 1 July 2009, the formerly independent municipality Priesitz is with the district Sachau to Bad Schmiedeberg. The last mayor was Bernd- Uwe noble. For today's village Priesitz also part of the district Sachau.

Regular events

Every year the Lake Festival in early July is organized as a village festival.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

At the federal highway 182 which Wittenberg and Torgau connects, it is about 0.5 km. The railway line runs Pretzschendorf Torgau - west of the town.
