Prima (locomotive)

The Prima is a family of locomotives by the French manufacturer Alstom. Initially, only electric locomotives belonged to this family, but in 2006 it was supplemented by a jointly developed with Siemens Transportation Systems diesel locomotive. This family will be replaced by the Prima II family.

Prima II

On 20 May 2008, Alstom has presented in Belfort (France) his new locomotive platform Prima II.

The drives of the vehicles are equipped with IGBT inverters. The vehicles are modular and can with four different voltages ( 25 kV, 50 Hz and 15 kV, 16.7 Hz single-phase AC and 1.5 kV and 3 kV DC) are operated. At these voltages, the Prima II, depending on the configuration selected by the customer ( freight or passenger transport), provide services from 4 to 6.4 MW and reach speeds of 140 and 200 km / hr. The six-axle version for heavy freight has an output of 9.6 MW and a maximum speed of 120 km / h As with the AGV, the control panel according to the European EUDD standard (European Driver 's Desk ) has been designed, which aim to make the control panels easier to handle for the drivers.

The very first customer for the new Prima - generation Moroccan National Railways ( ONCF ), appointed in November 2007, twenty - Prima electric locomotives from Alstom. These locomotives are used since 2010 throughout the Moroccan railway network in freight and passenger transport.
