Prime Minister of Somalia

The list of prime minister of Somalia includes all carriers of this title of the independence of Somalia in June / July 1960 to the present.

After the outbreak of the Civil War there was no functioning central government for more extended periods of time. The transitional Somali government, founded on the initiative of the international community was indeed regarded internationally as the legitimate representative of the country at the United Nations and other organizations, but controlled only vanishingly small fraction of the former territory.

After military intervention of neighboring countries Kenya and Ethiopia against the militant Islamist al -Shabaab (Somalia) and corresponding success of Somali militias and clans that support a recovery of Somalia, it was agreed in autumn 2012 on a new constitution as a federal state.
