Primera División (women)

The Superliga Femenina is the top division of the Spanish women's football. It was founded in 2001 and broke the existing since 1988 Primera División; the league is under the Spanish Football Federation.

Mode

The Super League comprises 16 teams since 2008. In the course of a season, each team plays twice against each other. Thus, each team has a combined 30 games. The champion qualifies for the UEFA Women 's Cup. The first eight teams play after the season the Copa de la Reina (Eng. " Cup of the Queen "). The two last- placed teams relegated to the Liga Nacional Femenina.
