Primero de Enero or Violeta is a municipality and a city in the Cuban province of Ciego de Ávila. The name is the victory of the Cuban Revolution on January 1: dedicated in 1959 (Spanish primero de enero ).

The municipality has 29,117 inhabitants in an area of 716.6 km ², representing a population density of 40.6 inhabitants per square kilometer.
