Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series

This article lists the nominees and the winners of the Television Awards Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series on since its introduction in 1951. The price is one of the most important awards within the Emmy Awards and has changed its name frequently. Between 1951 and 1954 was the price Best Dramatic Show, 1955 and 1956 Best Dramatic Series. 1957 no award was given. 1958, the Award was awarded in two categories: Best Dramatic Anthology Series and Best Dramatic Series with Continuing Characters. In 1959, he was named Best Dramatic Series - Less Than One Hour. In 1960, he was renamed Outstanding Program Achievement in the Field of Drama. He kept the name until 1965. 1966 changed the name for the sixth time. The title of Outstanding Dramatic Series or Outstanding Drama Series was used from 1966 on. Then the name was changed to Outstanding Drama Series.
