Primus (Band)

Primus (Latin: the first) is the name of a popular rock band from the greater San Francisco, which has developed a version of the crossover jazz, which she describes as " psychedelic polka " call. In addition, the band is known for quirky lyrics and creative animations.

Band History

The band was founded in 1984 by Les Claypool Todd Huth and as Primate in El Sobrante, California. Soon afterwards, they renamed the band Primus, because another band claimed the name of primates for themselves. There followed in 1997 the publication of the Brown Album. In the same year Primus played the title song to the cartoon series South Park. The band published in 1998 a further cover EP called Rhinoplasty time with cover versions, among others, Metallica, The Police and Stanley Clarke.

1999 appeared the album Antipop, on the celebrity guest appearances, such as from Tom Morello, Jim Martin, Tom Waits and James Hetfield are heard and which was partly produced by Matt Stone, Fred Durst and Stewart Copeland.
