Prince Achille Murat

Napoleon Achille Murat ( born January 21, 1801 in Paris, † April 15, 1847 in Wasceissa, Jefferson County, Florida), was the eldest son of Joachim Murat, King of Naples, officer and temporarily Prince of Berg and Prince of Naples.

Life

Napoleon Achille Murat was the son of Joachim Murat and Caroline Bonaparte, youngest sister of Napoleon Bonaparte. The Birth of Napoleon Bonaparte Franz destroyed his mother's hopes that he could follow her brother. So they formed an alliance with Napoleon's enemy, Clemens von Metternich, who tried unsuccessfully in 1815 to save Joachim Murat's throne. The former King of Naples, was shot on October 13, 1815 in Pizzo in Calabria by order of the Bourbon king Ferdinand IV was released.

After the death of his father Napoleon Achille Murat went with his mother to Frohsdorf in Lower Austria, where he received a good education. He went in 1821 to the United States, became an American citizen and acquired a large farm near Tallahassee, Florida. Since 1824 Murat has held several public offices. He served as the officer in the militia under Richard Keith Call. On July 30, 1826 married Catharina Murat Dudley, a grandniece of George Washington. They lived a retired life without children, leaving their wealth to charities.

In some sources it is reported that Murat had participated as an officer in the Belgian services in the Belgian revolution in 1830.
