Prince Charles Mountains

The Prince Charles Mountains are a mountain range in the Mac Robertson Land in Antarctica.

They consist mainly of the Athos Range, the Porthos Range and the Aramis Range. Along with some other hills of this mountain range is over 400 km long and is bordered to the north by the neighboring Starlight Mountain and the south by the Goodspeed nunataks.

These mountains were discovered by the United States Navy during Operation High Jump in the years 1946-1947 from a distance and photographed.

In the years 1954-1961 they were geologically explored and mapped by the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions. This larger Eisenerzvorkommrn were discovered.

The mountain was named in 1956 by the Antarctic Names Committee of Australia ( an Australian names committee ) to the Prince of Wales Prince Charles.
