Prince Konrad of Bavaria

Konrad Luitpold Franz Joseph Maria ( born November 22, 1883 in Munich, † September 6, 1969 in Behind stone) until 1918 was a Prince of Bavaria.

Life

Konrad was born as the fourth child of Prince Leopold of Bavaria and his wife Archduchess Gisela of Austria. Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth of Austria mother's side were his grandparents. Father's side he was descended from the Bavarian royal line, his grandfather was Luitpold of Bavaria, Prince Regent of 1886 until 1912.

Prince Konrad was the last commander of the 2nd Heavy Rider regiment. It fought in the First World War, mainly on the Eastern Front. Stationed it was in Landshut and was dissolved on February 6, 1919.

On January 8, 1921, he married at Castle Princess Bona Margherita Agliè in Piedmont of Savoy - Genoa.

He is buried in the family cemetery of the Wittelsbach in Andechs monastery, where his coffin was transferred from the " royal crypt " of St. Michael (Munich ) in 1977. His son Eugene Leopold also rests there.
