Prince Mirko of Montenegro

Prince Mirko Dimitri of Montenegro ( born April 17, 1879 in Cetinje, Montenegro, † March 2, 1918 in Vienna, Austria ) was a member of the house Petrović - Njegoš.

Life

Mirko was the second and youngest son of King Nikola I of Montenegro (1841-1921) and his wife Milena Vukotić ( 1847-1923 ). He grew up with his siblings in Cetinje.

On July 25, 1902 married Prince Mirko Dimitri of Montenegro in Cetinje Princess Natalija Konstantinovic ( 1882-1950 ), granddaughter of Anna Obrenović ( 1821-1868 ), daughter of the Serbian king Miloš Obrenović ( 1783-1860 ). The marriage was divorced in 1917. The marriage produced five sons were born: Stephan (1903-1908), Stanislaw (1905-1907), Michael (1908-1986), Pavle (1910-1933) and Emmanuel ( 1912-1928 ).

After the violent death († 1903) of King Alexander of Serbia and his wife Draga, Prince Mirko of Montenegro was proclaimed publicly by the Serbian government to the Crown Prince. He remained in 1916 as the only member of the dynasty in Montenegro, which was designed him by some as an attempt to separate peace solution with Austria-Hungary ( with or without the knowledge of his father ).
