Prince Olav Harbour

Prince Olav Harbour is the name of an abandoned whaling base, which was operated from 1917 to 1934, and a small harbor in the south-western part of Cook Bay, whose entrance is located on the north coast of South Georgia between Point Abrahamsen and Sheep Point. The name is in use since 1912, was probably created by Norwegian whalers and refers to Crown Prince Olav of Norway.

History

Brutus was in the aforementioned controlled port is set to basic, to serve as Bekohlungsstation. The ship was built in Glasgow in 1883 and weighed 1,700 tons. Originally known as Sierra Pedrosa was hergeschleppt from Cape Town. Brutus Iceland in the bay it is named in honor.
