Prince Oleg Konstantinovich of Russia

Prince Oleg Konstantinovich Romanov (born 15 Novemberjul / November 27 1892greg in Pavlovsk, .. .. † 29 Septemberjul / October 12 1914greg in Lithuania) was a Russian prince and a member of the House of Romanov -Holstein -Gottorp.

Life

Oleg was the fourth son of Grand Duke Konstantin Konstantinovich Romanov (1858-1915) and his wife Princess Elisabeth of Saxe- Altenburg (1865-1927), daughter of Prince Moritz of Saxe- Altenburg and Princess Augusta Luise of Saxe- Meiningen.

Early recognized the parents Oleg's intelligence when he complicated fantasy games developed for himself and his siblings and played. Other areas of interest he showed in archeology and architecture. His father decided to send him to a prestigious school, the Alexander Lyceum, instead of allowing him only the standard military training as his brothers. Prince Oleg served as four of his brothers in the Russian army in the First World War. He died of his battle wounds he had sustained against the Germans in Lithuania.

On July 14, 1886 modified Tsar Alexander III. the house of the Romanovs laws by restricting the title " Grand Duke " or " Grand Duchess " on the children and grandchildren in the male line of a tsar. Distant descendants would henceforth bear the title " Imperial Prince " or "Princess ". So Oleg, was a great-grandson of Tsar Nicholas I, an "Imperial Prince" by birth.
