Princess Anna Sophie of Denmark

Anna Sophie of Denmark ( born September 1, 1647 Flensburg, † July 1, 1717 at Lichtenburg Castle at Prettin ) was Electress of Saxony.

She was the eldest daughter of King Frederick III. of Denmark and Norway (1609-1670) and his wife Sophie Amalie (1628-1685), daughter of Duke George of Brunswick and Luneburg -Calenberg.

On October 9, 1666, she married the Elector Johann Georg III. of Saxony ( 1647-1691 ). The marriage had two sons:

  • Johann George IV (1668-1694), Elector of Saxony
  • Augustus the Strong (1670-1733), Elector of Saxony and King of Poland
