Princess Bernardina Christina Sophia of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach

Bernhardine Christiane Sophie of Saxe -Weimar- Eisenach ( born May 5, 1724 in Weimar, † June 5, 1757 in Rudolstadt ) was a Princess of Saxe -Weimar- Eisenach and by marriage Princess of Schwarzburg- Rudolstadt.

Life

Bernhardine Christiane Sophie was a daughter of Duke Ernst August I of Saxony -Weimar -Eisenach (1688-1748) from his first marriage with Eleonore Wilhelmine (1696-1726), daughter of Prince Emanuel Lebrecht of Anhalt- Köthen.

They married on November 19, 1744 in Eisenach Prince Johann Friedrich I of Schwarzburg- Rudolstadt ( 1721-1767 ). The princess, who was described as being particularly charitable, acquired in 1756 and founded the Rudolstädter craft center here which was named after her " Bernhardinenstift " for aristocratic women. A coat of arms at the entrance portal of the Handwerkerhofs reminiscent of the Princess. It has been extended for six women, including Bernhardine also bought a further outbuilding. The statutes of the pen was written by Princess personally.

The inauguration ceremony in 1757 did not live to the Princess, she died only 33 years old, deeply mourned by her husband, who did not marry again. Paintings of the princely pair of Johann Ernst Heinsius are located in the Green Room of Heidecksburg.
