Elizabeth, Princess of Denmark ( born May 8, 1935 in Copenhagen) is the daughter of the Danish Crown Prince Knut of Denmark and his wife Caroline - Mathilde of Denmark. She is member of the House of Glücksburg, a branch line of the House of Oldenburg, and is guided in the Danish throne. She is a cousin of the Danish Queen Margrethe II


Elizabeth's full name is Elisabeth Caroline - Mathilde Alexandrine Helena Olga Thyra Feodora Estrid Margarethe Désirée. She grew up on Castle Sorgenfri in Lyngby near Copenhagen. Her parents were from 1947, the Danish Crown Prince couple, until 1953 came a change in the succession rules in favor of today's ruling Queen Margrethe II.

Princess Elizabeth finished her education in 1952 with the high school diploma. She then spent a year in Switzerland and attended the Lausanne Brillantmont International College. After that, she completed a year at the school budget Suhr Madakademiet in Copenhagen. From 1954 to 1956 she attended the renowned Copenhagen Fashion Academy Margrethe Skolen.

In 1956, she entered the service of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she worked as an archive assistant 45 years. During her professional career, she was repeatedly working abroad: In 1973, she went for three years after Washington, DC, followed by another four years from 1981 From 1989 to 1993 she worked in Geneva.. Princess Elizabeth ended her career in 2001 as a ministry Amtsinspektorin.

Princess Elizabeth is on the Danish throne in twelfth position. Her brothers Ingolf and Christian ( † 2013) who married civil and thereby lost their place in the Danish throne. As a descendant of King George II is conducted in the English throne Princess Elizabeth.

Princess Elisabeth speaks Danish, English, French and German. She is the recipient of the elephant - Order. Princess Elizabeth is unmarried and has no children.

Princess Elizabeth lived and lived over 20 years with the Danish film director and photographer Claus Hermansen together until he died in 1997. From 2000 to 2004 it formed a pair with the Danish architect and industrial designer Klavs Nørregaard Helweg -Larsen. Elisabeth is an aunt of the famous Danish countesses Feodora, Josephine and Camilla of Rosenborg.
