Princess Ernestine of Saxe-Weimar

Princess Ernestine Auguste Sophie of Saxe -Weimar- Eisenach ( born January 4, 1740 in Weimar, † June 10, 1786 in Hildburghausen ) was Duchess of Saxony- Hildburghausen.

Life

Ernestine Auguste Sophie was a daughter of Duke Ernst August I of Saxony -Weimar -Eisenach and his second wife Princess Sophie Charlotte (1713-1747), daughter of Margrave Georg Friedrich of Brandenburg- Bayreuth.

On July 1, 1758 in Bayreuth married Duke Ernst Friedrich III. Carl von Sachsen- Hildburghausen ( 1727-1780 ). The marriage had come at the behest of her aunt Queen Sophie Magdalene of Denmark to pass, which had also been in-law of the groom. The dowry brought Ernestine was significant for the already twice a widower and highly indebted Ernst Friedrich Carl.

After the death of her husband in 1780, she retired completely. She lived in the so-called Fischbergsche house on the market of Hildburghausen and dealt primarily with music. The guardianship of her minor son still led Prince Joseph Friedrich von Sachsen- Hildburghausen.
