Princess Starla her friends Fallon and Tamara are taught by the magician Merlin and each has a crystal. Starla has the Sun Crystal, Fallon the moon crystal and Tamara the heart crystal. They are intended to protect the magical land of Avalon from evil forces. But the Wicked Witch Lady Kale banishes Merlin with a dark crystal in a realm of wild magic and will then have the crown jewels in order to gain control of Avalon. The three girls now have to stay Kale and free Merlin. Finally, they can beat the witch, but Merlin sacrifices himself and remains banned.
But while Starla and her friends looking for a way to retrieve Merlin, Kale allied with the great sorceress Morgana. This has once created the dark crystal and now wants to conquer together with Kale Avalon. But can the girls in time find the ancient magician crystals they need to defeat Morgana and Merlin retrieve. Finally, the balance of magic can be restored and Starla is Queen of Avalon.

The series was first broadcast in the United States of BKN on television. Starla also appeared on VHS in 2006 and on DVD.
The series was, French and Italian into Spanish and translated, among others, ran on German RTL Television. Repetitions followed with ORF 1 and RTL 2
