Princess Helena of Nassau

Helene Wilhelmine Henriette of Nassau- Weilburg ( born August 12, 1831 in Wiesbaden, † October 27, 1888 in Pyrmont ) was by marriage, Princess of Waldeck and Pyrmont.

Life

Helene was the daughter of Duke Wilhelm of Nassau (1792-1839) and his second wife, Pauline (1810-1856), née Princess of Württemberg.

On September 26, 1853 married Princess Helene Prince Georg Viktor of Waldeck and Pyrmont. Together, they got seven children, six girls and a boy, including the later Queen and regent Emma of the Netherlands, the second wife of the Dutch King William III. The eldest daughter, Sophie, died in 1869, only 15 years old, in England of tuberculosis.
