Princess Maria Anna Victoria of Savoy

Maria Anna Victoria of Savoy - Carignan (* September 13, 1683 in Paris, † October 11, 1763 in Turin) was the niece and heiress of the main Prince Eugene of Savoy.

Anna Victoria was a daughter of Louis Thomas of Savoy - Carignan, Count of Soissons (1657-1702), elder brother of Prince Eugene. This had married in 1680 deep under his stand and was then disinherited. He fell at the beginning of the Spanish War of Succession in the imperial service, near Landau in the Palatinate and leaving his family destitute.

Anna Victoria lived up to the age of 52 years unmarried in a monastery and looked at the death of her uncle as one of the richest heirs in Europe. Prince Eugene had, after his principal heir (Anna Victoria's older brother and his son ) had died, not draw up a new will and so Anna Victoria inherited a fortune of about two million guilders, to castles, estates, the famous library and painting collection.

Anna Victoria laid aside the monastic life and married on April 17, 1738 in Paris was considered the handsome, standing in high favor at the court of Vienna and 20 years younger than Prince Joseph Friedrich von Sachsen- Hildburghausen equal to 300,000 guilders in cash and the as a wedding gift Schloss Hof received in Lower Austria. Joseph Frederick was considered a great spendthrift and Anna Victoria soon began to auction fully and to squander the estate of Prince Eugene. For the construction of a worthy tomb for her uncle but Victoria spent no money. This had to cross in the chapel of St. Stephen's Cathedral is a grave vault to share with one of his nephews. His heart is set in Turin in the tomb of his ancestors.

Empress Maria Theresa acquired from the heiress to the library, some castles and estates.

Anna Victoria's marriage was cool and the couple divorced in 1752. Eleven years later, she died of a stroke in Turin.
