Prinzenmoor

Prinzenmoor (Danish: Prinsemose ) is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg -Eckernförde in Schleswig -Holstein. Hamdorferweide, Kamp, Langenberg and Wittenbergen lie in the municipality.

Geography and transport

Prince Moor is located about 15 km southwest of Rendsburg in a marshland on the Eider. The Federal Highway 203 from Rendsburg to Heath goes through the village.

History

Prinzenmoor was founded in 1761 as part of the Geest colonization. The place was one of the first colonies Geest and was named after the son of the Danish King Frederick V. However, since the management of barren soil with the former technology was difficult fled twelve of the sixteen southwest German families in 1764 from the colonists village.
