Prinzmetal's angina

The Prinzmetal's angina (synonym Variant angina or vasospastic angina ), named after its first described in 1959, Myron Prinzmetal ( 1908-1987 ), is a special form of angina pectoris dar. This is a temporary circulatory disorder (ischemia) to the heart muscle ( myocardium ) by a spasm ( vasospasm ) of one or more coronary vessels triggered.

The duration of such violent heartbreak is between seconds and minutes. It occurs independent of the load, especially in the early morning hours. As a worst consequence of ischemia, a heart attack can be triggered.

Diagnosis reversible ST -segment elevation in the ECG in the absence of troponin and CK increase are groundbreaking. Treatment is with nitrates and calcium antagonists. Contraindicated are beta blockers. The disease manifests itself especially in the 3rd - 4th Decade of life.
