Prionus

Sawhorse ( Prionus coriarius )

Prionus is a genus of beetles in the family of longhorn beetle ( Cerambycidae ) in the subfamily prioninae. It occurs in Europe with three species in Central Europe comes from before only the sawhorse ( Prionus coriarius ).

Features

The margin of the pronotum has a sharp edge and is provided with three spines. The belly is ungerandet on the sides and arched. The Epipleuren on the elytra are narrow and to the front a little wider. Touch the shoulder bumps. The antennae have twelve members and are weak, strong cut in the female in the male.

Occurrence and life

The larvae develop on roots.
