The Prisloppass (Romanian: Pasul Prislop ) is a mountain pass at 1413 m, located in the Carpathians in Northern Romania. It connects the Maramureş County with Bukovina and is close to the border with Ukraine.

The highest point of the pass is located on the so-called munti Prislop, which forms the watershed between the Tisza and Siret simultaneously. The nearest large valley station is in the valley of Borsa Vişeu.

Traffic

The route across the Prisloppass is 50 kilometers long. The pass is in the south, surrounded by the peaks of the Rodna Mountains, which find their highest mountain in Pietro's with 2303 meters above sea level. He is the highest traffic pass North of Romania. It lies on the DN18 and connects Viseu de Sus, Moiseja and Borsa on the western side with Câmpulung Moldovenesc in Suceava County on the east side.

The north-west side of the pass is relatively steep, but draws the southeast connection over a longer distance with rolling hills.

Tourism

In winter the pass is closed and covered with a thick layer of snow. In summer, however, he is a popular destination for many tourists on their journey through the Carpathians. The panoramic view extends from the peaks of the Rodna Mountains with the mountains Inew and Pietro to the upper reaches of the river Bistrita. Here also the great festival Hora de la Prislop takes place.
