Hatufim - In the hands of the enemy ( Ivrit - Original title: חטופים, to German " The abductees ") is the most successful Israeli television series. It tells of the return of two Israeli soldiers from 17 years of captivity in Lebanon. The first broadcast of the first season took place in Israel on Channel 2 from March to May 2010. A second season ran in Israel from October to December, 2012. The series was devised by Gideon Raff. In Germany, the first season of the series was broadcast in May and June 2013 Arte.

It serves as a template for the award-winning American television series Homeland of the transmitter Showtime.

Action

The series takes place in 2008 and is about three Israeli soldiers - Nimrod Small, Uri Ben- Horin Zach and Amiel - who were captured seventeen years ago during a secret mission with its unity in Lebanon. The story begins with the return home after years of negotiations for their release. While Nimrod and Uri back alive, Amiel died in captivity.

The series describes, with repeatedly that appears brutal and dramatic scenes of torture, the difficulties of reintegration of Nimrod and Uri who have been traumatized by captivity, in a society that has risen to national icons. The return to their previous, violently broken off family life is difficult for everyone involved, since the two men have to cope with and process the experiences in captivity, while the family has to deal with the return of what has become foreign.

Nimrod and Uri have to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. As a psychiatrist, the military finds contradictions in their stories, an investigation of whether the two returnees hiding something.
