Hawaiia minuscula

The crystal snails ( Pristilomatidae = Vitreidae ) are a family from the suborder of terrestrial snails ( gastropod ). The family is represented in Europe with about 60 species.

Features

The housings are usually small (up to about 6 mm), with very low until about 5 or 6 turns tightly wound. They are glassy - colorless. The mouth may be slightly thickened, the navel is completely closed.

Occurrence and life

The family is distributed throughout North America, Europe and West Asia. The animals live in moist places in the leaves, in crevices in the pore system of the soil and in caves.

System

The Pristilomatidae are a family in the superfamily Gastrodontoidea. Vitreidae Baker, 1930, is a junior synonym to Pristilomatidae.
