Privy Council of Thailand

The Privy Council ( Thai: สภา องคมนตรี ไทย, pronunciation: [ sap ː ʰ ǎ ʔoŋk ʰ t ʰ aj ámontri ː ]; engl. Privy Council) is a person appointed by the King group of advisers to the King of Thailand.

After a royal statement members of the Privy Council to represent the King at official occasions. Other important tasks are the development of palace laws of succession.

The President of the Privy Council (currently General Prem Tinsulanonda ) acts as a temporary regent during the King's absence.

The Privy Council is made up as follows (as of 2011):

  • General Prem Tinsulanonda, ( Thai: เปรม ติณ สู ลา นนท์ ), since 1998 President of the Privy Council, former Prime Minister ( 1980-1988 ), commander in chief of the army ( 1978-1981 )
  • Dr. Chaovana Nasylvanta ( Thai: เชาวน์ ณ ศีล วันต์; since 1975), the same director of the Crown Property Bureau
  • Tanin Kraivixien ( Thai: ธานินทร์ ก รัย วิเชียร; since 1977), former Prime Minister ( 1976-1977 )
  • Admiral Mom Luang Usni Pramoj ( Thai: อั ศ นี ปราโมช; since 1984), former CEO of Siam Industrial Credit Ltd.
  • Major General ( Air Force ) Kamthon Sindhvananda ( Thai: กำ ธน สิน ธ วา นนท์; since 1987), former director of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand
